I met Ashley and Tim in July of 2018 when they were eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child. They wanted to evoke this peaceful time in their lives and surround themselves in nature for their maternity session so we ventured from the city to the more rural Wildwood, Missouri.
Having the place to ourselves, we took our time meandering through the pastures and around the pond. This farm is one of my favorite places to photograph in the St. Louis area. Not only is it an absolutely beautiful setting but I’m always pleasantly surprised by the variety of images I’m able to capture in this single location.
This farm is home to a few horses, one of whom, Blue, loves to steal the show! We didn’t mind though as she is sweet as can be and seemed to be well aware that Ashley was pregnant. At one point, Blue even nuzzled her belly!
Ashley and Tim’s dogs joined us for the session and were perfect models! Tim’s sister was able to join us as well and was a huge help when it came to keeping the dogs content and their eyes on the camera when needed. Pro tip for those of you wanting to include your dog(s) in the session, bring someone along to bribe the pups with treats behind your photographer!
Maura was born in late September and we met for her in-home newborn session when she was five days old. She was just the sweetest throughout her session as she shared some special, snuggly moments with mom and dad.
My favorite product to come out of these two sessions is definitely the gorgeous heirloom album that we designed using photos from both the maternity and newborn sessions. Ashley chose a photo of her baby bump to be displayed on the front cover and requested it be edited in black and white for this use. I think it is the perfect compliment to the natural linen cover they chose!
A year flew by and I got to photograph Maura for her first birthday! Her mom, Ashley, baked the beautiful cake and put together the gorgeous decor.
Oh, what great keepsakes for this family to have! And it’s so fun to see all these milestones in one post. Beautiful photos!
